Our trip around that country was fast, we stayed for only 03 days in Tel Aviv, for being a strategic point to visit one more city. As we had only one day to visit Jerusalem, we had no time to waste, so we hired a tour to take us to the places that we would like to visit. We had researched before and we already knew about a company of Brazilians that does that kind of tour, so we soon got in touch with them by What’s App, and we’ll tell you everything about how that day was.

The Tour

As soon as we arrived at the city of Tel Aviv, we got in touch with the company OphirTour, directly with Moacir (a Brazilian guy). It was fine and fast. We dealt the type of the tour we would like to take via What’s App, I soon received an e-mail with the procedures for booking and it was hired. In the following day, we left to Jerusalem. It was perfect!

Jerusalem is a city with a lot of history about where Jesus passed through, and during that tour, we were taken to visit the old city and the new city, the Mount of Olives, and the Holocaust Museum. It’s such a remarkable museum, which describes the suffering of Jewish people in the hands of Hitler. It’s very sad to see pictures, reports and objects of who was through all of that fact then, but it’s very important to know a little more about that war, which killed lots of people, and pass it on, teaching how better we can be than our ancestors, by solving a problem without causing a war. The museum itself has a distinct architecture, with a main triangular duct divided into sections, each one saying something different about the war, and in the end of the main hall, the triangle opens and is projected to the city, with an amazing view of it.

During the route, we passed through the new city, we stopped at a place with a panoramic view, where we also could see the Mount of Olives, where Jesus did His preaches, we followed until the famous old city, where having a guide was essential, as the city looks like a maze and they know the best accesses. Right at the entrance, we passed through the Wailing Wall, where Jews say their prayers, and a lot of people write them on little pieces of paper and put it into the slits of the wall, and, every 2 years, they are collected and sent to the Mount of Olives. We passed through the Via Dolorosa, where Jesus carried the cross, we visited the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which is much adorned and visited by lots of believers. We also visited the grave of the king David. In that place, there is a chapel where Jews go praying, and men are separated of women, and they have to wear a kippah (a kind of hat).

We also walked through the narrow streets of the city, where there are a lot of stores, coffee shops and restaurants, and from a lot of points, we could see the structures which are over 2000 years old, it was possible to see the place where Mary would have spent her last night, before being taken to heaven. In the late afternoon, we returned to Tel Aviv, the price of the tour was 290 reais per person, leaving at 7a.m. on a van with 15 people, and a guide during all the tour.

Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is a surprising city for such an infrastructure it has. As soon as we arrived there, we could easily use the public transportation, trains and buses. We stayed at an Airbnb, which is quite near the beach, an unbelievably beautiful coast and with a beautiful sunset, where we saw lots of people celebrating life, just like us, each one with their style, some ones with a champagne, other ones with cameras, and us with a kiss.

Tip: during the shabat, a lot of establishments close and the public transportation doesn’t work, during the sunset of Friday and the Saturday.

Means of Transportation

The city has public transportation, such as subways, trains, and buses. There are also lots of taxis in the streets and Uber-taxi, because they need to be bound to the taxi system to move around. They’re usually effective and safe.

Safety of the city

We thought it’s very safe during the time we stayed there, we saw some cops in the streets, and guards in all of the touristic attractions. We walked a lot through all over the city during the daytime and it was very peaceful, the people are super friendly and helpful.

Kind of currency

The local currency of Israel is Israeli Shekel, and the exchange in dollar for April/2019 is $1.00 to 3.60 shekels. We recommend to exchange the currency in a safe place such as an airport or at Exchange, a bank in the city. It’s always good to have the local currency.

Expenses in Jerusalem and tel Aviv

Our expenses in currency (REAIS) in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv during 3 days for the couple were the following:

Feeding: R$190.00 (market, snacks)

Tours: R$600.00 (tour Jerusalem)

Transportation: R$530.00 (flight, bus, subway)

Lodging: R$230.00 (Airbnb)

We absolutely have to go back there and explore it much more, as only 03 days were not enough, but with the tour we took, we had a wide vision of how wonderful that country is.

It was amazing to visit it and see closely where Jesus walked and lived, that place really has a strong energy of a remarkable past.
