We got to the city by bus, and during all the route since Munich, we enjoyed the beauties of the Tyrolean Alps that surround the city. It’s the capital city of the state, but it still maintains the traits of a small town, and it’s much visited by tourists. The region has a lot of ski stations for who wants to visit it in winter and, in summer, there are awesome views of the mountains.
The Nordkette Mountain
It’s impossible not to notice that huge mountain and its glaciers. It’s right in front of the congress, there is the funicular (tram) station, with four options of places to visit, and the first stop is at Alpen zoo. The round-trip fee of the tram plus the entrance is 15.00 Euros (66.00 Reais), but if you prefer one-way trip until the district of Hungerburg, it’s 9.00 Euros (40.00 Reais).
There are some restaurants in that place and the view is very beautiful. In that district, there is the cable car that provides the access to Seegrube, at an altitude of 1905 meters, and you can stop there, but if you feel it’s not enough, you go up a little more to Hafelehar, at an altitude of 2256 meters, for 36.50 Euros (160 Reais).

Overview of the City
The Arch of the city
It was built in 1765 by the empress Maria Theresa, to celebrate the wedding of her son. She also marks the entrance of the street with her name, that’s one of the most crowded of the city, full of brand stores, such as the jewelry one Swarovski, born in that city. There are also lots of restaurants, cafés and pubs.
That’s the region where you’ll find the golden roof, where we saw, on Sunday morning, a very beautiful musical presentation, with trumpets and violins. Right beside it, there is the clock tower, and if you go up there, you’ll have an overview of the city.

Hofgarten
It’s a huge garden visited by us. There were lots of flowers, as we were in spring. It’s right next to Habsburg palace and the cathedral of Saint James. That park is an excellent place to have a picnic, go for a walk and take pets. We also saw some people playing chess on some giant boards, because they remember fondly that it was the first city to have a chess championship in Austria, in 1929.

Bergisel Stadium
It’s an amazing ski jump ramp, which is faced only by courageous professionals, and it has already located 03 Winter Olympic Games (1964-1976-2012), and the city is looking forward for the world winter games, in 2020. At the entrance hall of the stadium, there’s also a museum that costs 9.50 Euros (41 Reais) and has a lot about the history of Tyrolean people and the funicular (tram) that takes visitors to the top of the jump ramp to have the view of competitors when they’re going down.
Markthalle
It’s a great place for who likes natural products, it’s a market with local items and spices, mainly from the region of Tyrol. It’s also very common to find flowers for sale and, as it was spring when we visited it, there were a lot of options of flowers (very good smells).
In that place, there are lots of kinds of processed food (salami, cheese, meat and others), and you can find a variation of seeds and cereals. I personally love those markets, to try new products with different tastes.

Already inside the city we went on foot because it was too close to go to our Airbnb. The means of transport are great and very comfortable, very easy to use, there are totems where tickets can be bought 1.60 Euros (7 Reais).

Safety of the city
We thought it’s very safe during the time we stayed there. We saw some policing in the streets, but no guards at the touristic attractions. We walked a lot through all over the city during the daytime and it was very peaceful, the people are super friendly and helpful. We also avoided to take tours alone after 8p.m.

Kind Currency
The local currency of Innsbruck is Euro, and the exchange in dollar for junho/2019 is $1.00 to 0.90 Euros. We recommend to exchange the currency in a safe place such as an airport or at Exchange, a bank in the city. It’s always good to have the local currency.
