London has many places to be visited, and if you have less than one week, you’ll definitely not be able to go through all the city, only the main touristic attractions. In the first time we visited it, in 2016, we had only 03 days and that happened to us, then we just went to the most known attractions. This time, we went through some ones again, but we decided to go to different districts, and we’ll tell a little more below.
Actually, London wasn’t in our itinerary, as we were going to visit only the northern cities, but we met a wonderful person in Malta who invited us to stay in her house. It was an amazing experience, once she didn’t really know us and she greeted us with arms wide open.
Mandatory Places To Visit Again
It’s almost impossible to go back to London and not to go through the most known attractions quickly, at least to take awesome photos. Here are the places we visited again:
London Eye and Big Ben: They are pretty much the heart of the city, and if you want to say you have been to London, it’s a mandatory passthrough. What was different this time wasn’t very nice. There are many tourists strung along gambles, carried out at some bridges such as Westminster. The gamble is a guessing game where they hide a small ball under a little cup and you must bet on which cup the ball is under. If it’s right, you get double, but if it’s wrong, they keep the money. There are so many gamblers that it gets hard to go through the bridge.
Another negative point is that, if you are excited to see Big Ben and the parliament, you may be disappointed, as they have been through a huge reform and they are all covered by scaffolds. You can barely see the majestic clock, and, according to some residents, it will last a long time.

Buckingham Palace and Parks
With or without the changing of the guard, that region must be visited. Of course, if you have the chance to stay and see, it’s a very interesting event. You can see the fanfare, the clothing and the procedures. Your tour will be even more special. But it’s a place surrounded by parks, which are: Saint James park, Green park and the garden of Buckingham palace, which was full of flowers and animals, as we were in Summer.
Whereas Piccadilly Circus is a huge avenue, where thousands of stores, cafés and restaurants are concentrated. If you need to buy something, it is excellent for shopping, or even just taking tours, having lunch or drinking something.

Exploring New Places
Those places had been left off our previous visit as we didn’t have time, but now we decided to explore new places. I’ll describe and illustrate with some pictures what you can visit too. Here they are:
CAMDEN TOWN
After dropping by Regent’s Park, a very beautiful flowered place, we followed some boats we saw through the river, until we got a super lively and crowded place: Camden Lock Pier, with many options of boat and even kayak tours. For whomever doesn’t like crowds: don’t go there, as there are so many tourists and there’s also the population. They search for pubs and the widely varied food of the tents. The stores have very irreverent façades, and an amazing vibe with loud music and fun.
GREENWICH PARK
That place has a magnificent view of the city and the buildings, an awesome tour for whomever also wants to visit the royal observatory and visit the ground zero (0) of the meridian that intersects the Orient and the Occident.
If you like museums, there are many ones next to each other, such as Royal Museum and National Maritime Museum. There’s also Cutty Sark, a beautiful ship. See the prices on the official site: rmg.co.uk
Very next to that point, there’s The O2 Arena, a grand shopping mall, full of attractions and events. Get the tip!

Notting Hill
We actually went to the districts to see where the scenes of the movie with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant took place, as the bookstore which is a landmark, but we got there in the late afternoon and the famous fair of Portobello street was almost over. The district is very nice, and at some squares, people enjoy playing a lot of music.

Beatles’s Crosswalk
As we were near there, we went seeing the famous pedestrian crosswalk of The Beatles, on Abbey road. For whomever is in a car and has to go through there, it’s very chaotic, as there are really so many tourists who want to take the famous photo going through the crosswalk. It’s amusing to stay there watching people find the right moment to take the photo, trying not to be hit by a vehicle.

Windsor and its Castle
It’s 34 Km far from London downtown, and you can get there by train. It’s very worthwhile to visit that charming small town, which locates the castle where the loyal family lives nowadays. That’s also where the princes William and Harry got married. The castle can be visited for 22.50 Euros (105 reais), see more details on the official site rct.uk, to buy tickets or to check if it’s open to visitors, as, depending on the event of the royal family, visits may be called off.

Wales and the Town of Port Talbot
We rented a car and went to the small town of Port Talbot, where we visited a couple of friends who live there. The town is in Wales, right at the boundary with England. It has a calm sea that baths a beautiful cove. It’s all peaceful and the overall view of the knoll of the city is wonderful.

Means of Transport
We arrived via airport from Lisbon, ticket price 15 Euros (70 reais) each ticket. Once inside the city, we took the subway to our friend’s house.
The means of transport are great and very comfortable, it is very easy to use, there are totems in the subway stations where tickets can be purchased, we use the 25 pounds for 03 days.

Safely of City
For the period we stayed we found it very safe, and we saw a lot of policing in the streets and in the tourist spots. We walked a lot throughout the city during the day and it was very quiet, people are super friendly and helpful. We also avoid walking alone after 9 pm. We love walking around here.

Kind of Currency
The local currency of England is the Pound, and the exchange rate in dollar July / 2019 is at $ 1.00 to 0.82 Pound. We recommend changing the currency in a safe place such as an airport or an Exchange, a bank in the city can be more advantageous. It is good to always have the local currency.
Total Expenses
Our currency expenses (REAL) in London for 5 days for the couple looked like this:
Food: R$ 162.00 (market, snacks)
Transport: R$ 527.00 (bus + subway + 02 daily car rental)
Accommodation: R$ 0,00 (House of friends)
Visiting again a gorgeous city such as London was very interesting. It was great not to focus on the center, as we explored many other points of the city and we’ll definitely have new and unknown places to see when we’re back there again.
